Most agency websites talk about who they work with. We think it matters just as much to be honest about who we don’t.
DJC Graphic Designs takes on a limited number of projects at a time. That’s not a marketing angle. It’s how a boutique agency actually works: one owner, direct involvement in every project, no account managers passing your feedback down a chain. That structure only holds up if we say no sometimes. Here’s when, and why.
Every project at DJC Graphic Designs goes through David directly, from the first conversation to launch. That’s the whole point of working with a small agency instead of a large one. But it only works if we’re not stretched across more projects than one person can give real attention to.
If saying yes to your project would mean less attention on someone else’s, or on yours, we’d rather say no and mean it than say yes and let the work suffer.
Sometimes a business needs a website fast: launch in a week, done in three days, that kind of ask. We understand the urgency behind it.
But a rushed project usually skips the part that actually matters: understanding your customers before designing around them. If a timeline doesn’t leave room for that, we’ll say so plainly, and either propose a realistic one or point you toward someone better suited to move at that speed.
Not every business that reaches out actually needs a new website. Sometimes the real problem is somewhere else: pricing, offer, follow-up, word of mouth.
If that’s what we see, we’ll tell you, even if it costs us the project. A strategy-first approach doesn’t mean much if it disappears the moment it’s inconvenient.
We publish real pricing because we’d rather be upfront than have this conversation awkwardly later. If a project’s goals genuinely require more than a budget allows, we won’t quietly cut corners to make it fit.
We’ll say what it would actually take, and let you decide what’s next: adjusting scope, waiting, or working with someone else.
None of this is about being hard to work with. It’s about being honest about what a small, hands-on agency can actually deliver, and protecting that for every client we do take on, including you, if the fit is right.
If you’re not sure whether your project is a fit, the easiest way to find out is a conversation, not a guess.
A free consultation isn’t a sales pitch. It’s how we figure out, together, whether this is the right move for your business right now. If it’s not, we’ll tell you that too.
